How to Add a Domain and Website in cPanel (Step-by-Step)
Adding a new domain to your cPanel account allows you to host a new website under your existing hosting plan. Follow this simple guide to point your domain and add it to your cPanel dashboard.
Step 1 – Point Your Domain to HostGete
Before adding a domain to cPanel, it must be pointed to our network so it can resolve correctly. To ensure a smooth setup, we recommend updating your domain's nameservers at your registrar first.
- Verify Ownership: Make sure the domain is active and registered under your account. If you haven't bought one yet, you can register a new domain directly through HostGete.
- Update Nameservers: Log into the client area of your domain registrar (where you purchased the domain) and locate the DNS/Nameserver management section.
- Set HostGete Nameservers: Replace the existing nameservers with the following HostGete cPanel Nameservers:
ns1.hostgete.comns2.hostgete.com
⏳ Note on DNS Propagation: Nameserver changes can take anywhere from 2 to 24 hours to fully propagate worldwide. Your website might be briefly inaccessible during this period. We highly recommend waiting for propagation to finish before moving to the next step.
Step 2 – Add the Website in cPanel
Once your domain is successfully pointed to our nameservers, you can add it to your hosting account via the modern Jupiter theme interface.
- Log into your HostGete cPanel account.
- Scroll down to the Domains section and click on Domains.
- Click the "Create A New Domain" button on the right side of the page.
- Enter the required information in the form:
- Domain: Type in your new domain name (e.g.,
yourdomain.com). - Share document root: Uncheck this box. Keeping it unchecked ensures this new website has its own separate folder and doesn't conflict with your main website.
- Document Root (Home Icon): This specifies the directory where your new website's files will live. cPanel will automatically fill this in, and we recommend leaving it at the default value.
- Subdomain: cPanel generates this automatically for backend routing. You can leave this as the default value.
- Domain: Type in your new domain name (e.g.,
- Review the details and click the Submit button.
Managing Your Domains
That's it! Your new domain is now successfully added. You will see it listed under the Domains management table at the bottom of the page, where you can update its document root, set up redirections, or delete it if necessary.
You can now proceed to install WordPress using the Softaculous installer in cPanel, or upload your existing website files directly into the newly created folder via the File Manager.
