How to Create and Manage Subdomains in cPanel

Subdomains are a fantastic way to organize different sections of your website under separate addresses. For example, instead of using a clunky URL like mysite.com/blog, you can create a clean subdomain like blog.mysite.com. Subdomains can function as completely independent websites with their own separate files.

Step 1 – Navigate to the Domains Section

  1. Log into your HostGete cPanel account.
  2. Scroll down to the Domains section layout.
  3. Click on the Domains icon.

Step 2 – Configure Your New Subdomain

  1. On the Domains management page, click the Create A New Domain button on the right side.

  1. Fill in the configuration fields with the following details:
    • Domain: Enter your full desired subdomain name (e.g., blog.yourdomain.com).
    • Share document root: Make sure to leave this checkbox empty (unchecked). This guarantees your subdomain gets its own folder and won't overwrite your primary website files.
    • Document Root (Home Icon): cPanel will automatically generate a dedicated folder name for this subdomain. We recommend leaving it as the default.
  2. Once everything is set up properly, click on the Submit button to deploy the changes.

Step 3 – Managing or Deleting Existing Subdomains

After successful provisioning, your new address will appear in the management registry table at the bottom of the main **Domains** page.

  • Check Info / Manage: Click the **Manage** button next to any subdomain to update its document root or check directory configurations.
  • Create Redirections: You can forward visitors from your subdomain to another link using the redirection tools in that specific management row.
  • Delete a Subdomain: If you no longer need the subdomain, click **Manage**, scroll down, and select **Remove Domain** to delete its DNS mapping securely from your hosting account.
